DO NOT wet the extensions for 24 to 48 hours after applying them. To be safe, also avoid excessive heat for the first few days (including saunas and Bikram yoga classes). Applying a single extension to an individual eyelash ensures a much more natural look. As for preparation, an allergy test will be mandatory 48 hours before appointments for anyone booking eyelash extensions and eyelash lift treatments, Sherrille says.
It will have its own requirements before someone is allowed to apply eyelash extensions, but most states require a licensed technician. Properly applied eyelash extensions are incredible, but if applied poorly they can greatly compromise natural lashes. People of all ages can wear eyelash extensions, but people with certain medical conditions, such as alopecia areata, eyelid dermatitis, trichotillomania, and blepharitis, should not do so. The salon will give you a plastic brush to take home to straighten your lashes and make sure they don't clump together when you apply mascara. Eyelash extensions need maintenance, so for them to look fluffy and natural, it's best to use them every 2 to 3 weeks.
Don't use oil-based makeup removers; the oil will weaken the glue and only cause the extensions to fall off faster. Both will break the adhesive used to attach the eyelash extension to the natural lashes and cause excessive hair loss. If you're not sure if your current skin care products are oil-based, it's best not to take chances and switch to a specific shampoo for eyelashes. Even if you have a wound or broken skin around your lashes, wait until your lashes heal.
You should make sure that you don't let hot or cold water fall on your high-pressure eyelash extensions while you shower with eyelash extensions. In my experience as an eyelash artist, educating my clients on the do's and don'ts of eyelash extensions is an important part of my work. I've always loved eyelash extensions, but I had never gotten around to them until this summer.
